This Illinois Automation Plant Needed a Big Hand
An Illinois Automation Plant redesigned their application from a single gearmotor running two shafts (with a series of chain/sprockets/idlers) to a direct drive system containing one gearmotor for each shaft.
The first redesign utilized a competitor's worm drive reducer, which lasted a week before leakage and failure. In an attempt to resolve the situation, the competitor recommended an increase in the reducer's size. This increase improved the case; however, their reducers were still failing within 4-5 weeks.
The customer noted that the competitor's reducers were running extremely hot and leaking constantly. We knew the customer needed something better.
