Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) Donates $38,000 to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore

Founded in 1981, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore ensures that our communities' members receive healthy meals. The Foodbank serves thousands of meals to individuals on an annual basis throughout the Coastal Virginia area. They serve the most vulnerable members of our community-the elderly, the disabled, and families.

This initiative is at the core of SMA's values-to work as a team. Our employees understand individuals and families across our communities need assistance, and we could not be more proud to be an annual donor of the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.

At our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon, SMA presented the Foodbank with a check of $38,000, through efforts made by employees and executives throughout 2016. This contribution enables community members to be fed throughout the fall and winter months.

Our facilities in Verona, VA; Lousville, KY; Glendale Heights, IL and Corona, CA also contributed to local charities bringing the total to $54,000 in charitable contributions SMA has made in 2016.

Verona, VA presented the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank with a check donation of $6,000.00.

“Six Thousand Dollars will generate 24,000 meals for our community, our friends and neighbors,” said Karen Ratzlaff, Chief Philanthropy Officer who graciously received the check on behalf of the Food Bank at the Verona assembly facility.
