Jim Solomon

James D. Solomon

President & CEO

James D. Solomon became President and CEO of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) on January 1, 2017, after serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. With a strong background in finance, including roles in public accounting and internal auditing, he joined SMA in 2000 as Assistant Controller. Throughout his tenure, Solomon has emphasized enhancing customer experience and profitability, aiming to reinvest in the company's growth. He is committed to personnel development and has established a leadership team focused on advancing SMA's success. 

Nate Flora

Chief Financial Officer

Nate Flora became Vice President and CFO of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) on January 1, 2017, after serving previously as Corporate Controller and Director of Finance.

Nate started in the SMA Accounting Department in 2005 and has worked mostly within the finance and accounting area, but has also served in other roles in production control and sales.  In addition to the financial area, Nate also has responsibility for HR, IT, and SMA's Latin American subsidiaries.      

Sara Zimmerman

Vice President of Customer Experience and Product

Sara Zimmerman has been with Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America since 1997, starting as an Electrical Product Specialist. She has held various roles, including Product Manager and Vice President of Business Development.

In January 2025, she became Customer Experience and Product, leading teams in customer experience, engineering, and product development to enhance customer satisfaction and achieve revenue goals.

John Murphy

Vice President of National Sales

Jon Murphy is the Vice President of National Sales at Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA), with over 35 years of industry experience. He specializes in product selection, engineering, and post-sale services like repair and maintenance.

Jon is committed to helping businesses enhance efficiency and maintain operations, offering tailored advice and innovative solutions with Sumitomo's products and services.

Tony Barlett

Tony Barlett

Vice President of Operations

Tony Barlett was promoted to Vice President of Business Operations at Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) on April 1, 2020.  Since joining SMA, Barlett has held various roles in field sales, sales channel management, and operations management.

His combined experience in sales and operations positions him to keep customers central to SMA's ongoing development and operational improvements.
