Problem:

This customer’s thickener cell was down due to a failed planetary gearbox that impacted operations. They’re current manufacturer wasn’t giving them support and they were quoted a very long lead time.

Solution:

We were able to measure the existing unit and review available documents to size a Cyclo with a special shaft length. Due to time constraints, the distributor designed and fabricated a custom transition plate to drop into the existing mounting. Our special shaft length, along with transition base, matched all existing dimensions for a drop-in retrofit. The next best solution was to cut a custom planet gear to repair the existing unit, which would have added a minimum of 10 extra days of the customer being down.

The cost of downtime for this customer was $40,000 per hour for 240 hours. We saved this company $96,000,000 in reduced downtime.
