It Takes All of Us: SMA's Commitment to Closer, Stronger Partnerships
National Supply Chain Day is a chance to step back and appreciate the networks that keep industries moving. For those of us at SMA, it is also an opportunity to reflect on the work we have been doing to make those networks stronger.
The disruptions of recent years reinforced what many in the industry already suspected: over-reliance on distant suppliers creates vulnerability. SMA has been addressing that reality for well over a decade. Since 2010, we have invested $22 million in reshoring and nearshoring initiatives, reducing dependence on overseas components and building a more resilient North American supply chain. In 2024, that commitment was recognized with the National Metalworking Reshoring Award at IMTS, representing $100 million in annual revenue growth and a stronger foundation for the future.
That progress continues. The acquisition of Riverside Spline and Gear in Michigan now allows SMA to produce critical gear cutting and machining components domestically. Ongoing facility expansions in Mexico and Chile, along with the realignment of Brazil under the SMA umbrella, further reflect a deliberate strategy to bring the supply chain closer and strengthen it at every level.
This vision was the foundation of SMA's 2026 Supplier Summit, held April 21-22 in Chicago. Members of the SMA leadership team, including VP and COO Tony Bartlett, gathered with our supplier community to share that vision and reinforce a simple truth: this kind of progress does not happen in isolation. It takes all of us.
To our partners and suppliers, thank you. Happy National Supply Chain Day!
