Challenge
A lumber mill had a failed inline gear reducer that was chain driven to a feed screw. The feed screw is used to move wood scraps into the fuel house that is used to feed the boiler to generate power. They wanted to eliminate the sprocket and chain drive, but the inline gear reducer had a long lead time. They were not able to generate power and save money on utilities.
Solution
A direct drive with our Bevel Buddy Box was the perfect solution. Our reducer provided a direct connection to the feed screw shaft to eliminate the sprocket drive. The BBB was grease packed to eliminate maintenance issues and oil contamination from sawdust and other debris.
