Upgrading an Operation With Bevel Buddyboxes
Problem:
Their customer had a "Mushroom Hoving Machine" that had Van Der Graaf motorized drum pulleys. This was a very demanding application. It's a manure spreader for this mushroom farm and runs several hour shifts several times a day. The Van Der Graaf pulleys were burning out due to the demand of the application, and this particular model was capped at 7.5 HP. The next option was to put in Dodge TXTs but they were too bulky. It would require moving drive packages 12”+ outboard of bearings. After our initial visit, we proposed 10 & 15 HP Bevel Buddyboxes (2 each per application) and with one modified for a 45 degree angle mount.
Solution:
After some discussion, site visits and Q&A, we received our first order for 4 Bevel Buddyboxes. With the Van Der Graafs, they were getting 6 months tops out of these pulleys before failure. Sumitomo BBBs have been installed for over a year and have had no issues.
