5.5 Ton Baseplate Manufactured from our Home Plate
The Chesapeake, Virginia headquarters of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) expedites 5.5 ton baseplate, which no other manufacturer was capable of producing in time, all in less than 10 business days.
Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA), part of Sumitomo Drive Technologies, was requested by a cement plant to create a 5.5 ton baseplate as part of a drive transmission package for their facility. Five other vendors were approached, but none were able to complete the project in its entirety or in a timely fashion as SMA was able to do for the customer.
Our team took the original design and created a fully ready to manufacture design in two business days. The facility worked together to fabricate and machine, and ready for pick-up in the remaining eight days. It was the largest project-to-date for our Bridge Mill machine and the heaviest steel-piece welded in-house at the Chesapeake, Virginia facility. The drive transmission package includes a Paramax 9105 with a 50Hp Motor and size F BevelBuddy Box 4 (BBB4).
Many departments coordinated their schedules to ensure the project would be done well and on-time. “Design Engineering, Procurement, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, Steel Fabrication Welding & Machining, and Logistics were all able to prioritize their schedules and maintain their daily work to complete the impressive project.” —R. Patrick Stephan, Project Engineer for Manufacturing.
