Ronald J. Smith Promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America

Sumitomo Drive Technologies Senior Management announces the promotion of Mr. Ronald J. Smith to the position of CEO/President for Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America (SMA) effective January 1, 2007. His 25 years of power transmission industry experience include 16 years at SMA. Mr. Smith advanced through the SMA Sales organization to become the Chief Operating Officer/President in 2004. Since coming to Chesapeake Headquarters, he led SMA through successive years of record growth and prosperity. His proven skills and leadership will continue to be instrumental in SMA’s future growth and success. 

Mr. Nobuhiko Kawamura, General Manager of the International Sales and Marketing Division for Sumitomo Drive Technologies PTC Group, said of Mr. Smith, “Ron possesses a passion for our business, loyalty to our company and employees, and a leadership style that brings out commitment and enthusiasm by those fortunate to work directly with him”.
